No More Puppy Food?

Today I am a bit sluggish. I stayed up late and had to wake up at 6 a.m. to let Cobra out. I, of course, went back to bed and when I woke up this morning, my allergies went into overdrive. I really can't see as I'm writing this, due to watering eyes, and I have used 3 Kleenex's since the last two sentences. *ugh*
On to other news.
I have always wondered, as everyone else who meets Cobra, why he is so tall and lanky. I first thought it just to be part of the growing process, but as he gets older he just stays the same. When I tell people he eats 8 cups a day they are in shock, because their dogs only eat 3 or 4. I've talked to Lab owners and breeders and they switch their pups to adult dog food when they are 7 or 8 months old, because the puppy food, I guess, jumpstarts the pups growth and when you are dealing with large breed pups that grow alot anyway, jumpstarting them isn't the best.
KSDS sends Science Diet free of charge to its puppy raisers and they send the large breed puppy formula. I think what I will do is ask the PR coordinator if I can have the adult food shipped to me to see if I can improve his weight. Eating 8 cups a day and staying the same weight, just seems a little odd, soI will see wat I can do.

No wonder Cobra is growing so big. He's what about 16 months old? That's a long time to be on puppy food. Hoping KSDS sends you the food you're asking for, and that it helps slow Cobra's growth. Too much too fast isn't good for large breed dogs.

He is pretty lanky, but maybe he's just taking a long time before he fills out. We always make fun of Amy's Zoom because he's "anorexic" :P, but really we made fun of her Echo for the same thing and he filled out later and is a nice solid dog now.

Anyways, good luck with the food switching, hopefully you get the adult food very soon.

Wow! 8 cups a day! The most I've ever heard of is 5-6 cups. If he's over a year old I'd definitely recommend changing to adult if KSDS will let you!

WOW - 8 cups a day! I think Cinnamon is going to look like his big brother. Nutmeg and Curry are stocky like their mom. I haven't seen their dad, so he must be tall and lanky. I'd be interested to see what Deb has to say! Good luck!
