Almost Here :(

The day that Cobra goes back is almost upon us.............Saturday, April 26th.
I still can't believe it really, I mean, It seems as though I just got him, and now he needs to go back.

We are leaving tomorrow, Thursday, and spending that day to log in the driving hours (7)

I still need to post some pics of his final farewell poses and I'll most likely even take some more this weekend. One last photo with him and me, maybe by the river.

Most likely this is it. I mean, If he makes it, I'll be relieved, but if he doesn't, I'm not sure if I'd take him back or not. A part of me wants to say yes, but reality creeps in also. Having four mouths to feed is a lot! Along with medical care, and don't forget my sanity! ha, never mind, lost that years ago! :)

Anyway, I'll post on Friday and then probably on Saturday (gotta love the invention of the laptop!) and update everyone.

Thanks Everyone! This whole journey has been just incredible and I've made the best of friends! (you know who you are!) and I've met so many others in my same position! It has been so helpful to have support and advise from people who also get stared at in malls, who also deal with torn and/or broken items in the house, and who also love the phrase "This is my Guide/Service dog In Training!"

Thanks and I hope to do it again, soon, unless something else comes up.

Ta Ta everybody!

Awww, the first goodbye is definitely hard. I don't know if they ever get easier. :-( Good luck to you and Cobra. I bet he'll do you proud. Drive safe and I can't wait to see the pictures. Hope you can get a new pup ASAP if you want one that soon. :-)

Good luck Cobra, and to you too Sarah. Saying goodbye is never easy. I can't wait to hear which path Cobra chooses, guide or service.

Hey Sarah!
Thanks for all your comments. I tried to reply to one on your blog but don't think it posted.
Glad you enjoyed Nationwide! I'm sure it must be really tough having to give cobra back after all this time. Thats the great thing about having a guide dog - you don't have to give them back.
I'd be interested to know how the system works in America. In Ireland dogs are eigher trained as guide dogs or assistance dogs for kids with autism, and they can usually tell which one a dog will be trained for when it is a yung pup.
Good luck anyway, and i'm sure cobra will make a great companion and a helpful dog for someone.

I can't believe his turn in is here! It seems like just yesterday you told us his turn-in date, and I thought to myself "well, she's still got quite a while!" And now it's here!!! Give handsome Cobra a big hug for me, I'm sure he'll do you proud. :)

Good luck to you both and I hope you have a good, safe trip (you'll be fairly close to where we live). Looking forward to updates on which career path Cobra chooses too.
