The area that we live in is in desperate need of dog trainers. The closest Petsmart is 2 hours away. The closest "trainer" (I don't count Petsmart or Petco....personally, I do not like them) is roughly the same distance away. The closest dog park is 2 hours away. What I'm saying is the chance for training, socialization and understanding is 2 hours away!
I have seen so many pit bulls and chihuahuas that need training it almost makes me sick.
With that said, I have been writing a small article in the local newspaper about tips, techniques and such. So far I have gotten positive response with just one article and the few people that responded seemed to be f=game for a future obedience course or something.
It gives me hope for this area. I would LOVE to teach agility, but obedience is more important for this area anyway and you have to have obedience before you start with Agility.
