I Have 2 Soon To Be 3

Alright, well some of you know that I have been waiting for my next competition dog for awhile and I was put on the list to co-own a Neapolitan Mastiff with the breeder. Well due to certain circumstances (98% of them due to the breeder) I will need to put that thought on the back burner yet again.

I wanted a dog and I was scheduled to have one by spring, so with the "circumstances" being as they are, I set out to find another dog.

There are several dogs that I call dream dogs, meaning I would like to own one at least once in my lifetime and a Greyhound is one of those. I remember seeing a t.v. special on adopting retired racing greyhounds about 5 years ago and thought how neat!

With Tara only being 2, I knew I needed to wait, so I did.........and was researching other breeds and decided to hold off and get my Australian Shepherd that i've also wanted so bad.

Time came and went and wen Annie was 2 I told the breeder of my Neo, to go ahead and put me on the waiting list. Now don't get me wrong, I really like this breeder, but certain things are just unforeseen that you have no control over, so with that said, I decided to look around at my next option in line.........a retired racer.

Greyhounds have always been unique to me. They're calm, gentle, loving, silly, goofy, eager to please, and ready to learn. Another totally different side of them is their agileness (if thats a word!) They are like gazelles when they run and they love to frolic and romp, so in honor of their bred work as a hunter, I thought I would have my next competition dog be a Greyhound.

I have already done intensive work in preparation of owning one and can't wait to start training him/her on agility!

I'll be getting my new pal through the great people at Heartland Greyhound Adoption

I sent in my application to begin the process and will be making a trip down to Des Moines Iowa in the next few weeks. If anyone is interested, I've made a list, on the right, of my favorite Greyhound links, If you want to check them out.

Hope your perfect greyhound pup is with you soon. I'd love to have one as a pet someday but Hubby doesn't like their looks.

Oh my gosh! My family adopted a racing greyhound from Heartland! She was so wonderful, we loved her to death. She passed away about four years ago from bone cancer. They are super awesome dogs though, can't wait to hear about yours!
